Progress: a forward or onward movement (as to an objective or to a goal)
Yikes. I dunno if any of you are keeping track, but it’s been about a month and a half since I’ve made my little declaration about wanting to truly pursue this whole blogging thing. And I mean, like, I guess that’s a lengthy enough time to give an update on what’s happening on my end.
And girl, I’m glad I’ve actually accomplished some things ’cause this would get awkward real quick if I didn’t.
For starters, I moved to WordPress! Like, we’re official now. I’d been contemplating the move for a while, and the migration service I was planning to buy was on sale for New Year. I mmm-ed and ahh-ed about it for so long. The stars basically aligned for me in the moment, so I decided to be a little spontaneous and go for it. I still have some bits that need adjusting, but that will come in time. I plan on making a full blog post about this transfer in the future!
This next changed I’ve briefly mentioned before, but let’s touch on it a bit more. I removed some content. It’s not like I totally purged and am starting from ground zero, but I went through and pulled what doesn’t speak to my new direction or was honestly bad from the start. I feel like my blog is cleaner by doing so and this will help narrow my focus going forward.
Figuring out my content and what is in line with my vision has me rethinking the way I do everything, and I’m actually reconsidering my poetry’s role on my blog. I shared a poem a couple weeks ago Poetry: Like a Novel, and, like, it didn’t feel right? I love poetry, and I’m making it part of my Instagram; but as I’m doing reading about creating my brand and really focusing on what my blog is about, I don’t think poetry is key. I’m undecided if I’m going to pull it all or shift it into my lifestyle category, but I won’t be sharing anymore of it here. You can follow me on Instagram to see my latest poems.
And, like, let’s actually shift over to Instagram since it came up. I’m getting with the program and really committing to it. I’m lowkey giving up on Twitter because it’s just not for me, but I’m deffo still going to be checking it on the daily. Instagram is a superior platform for bloggers and influencers. I can stomp around and get mad about the algorithm, or I can learn and give it a real try. I’m taking a course called Instagram for Success by Helene Sula, and bruuuuh. Game. Changer. I’m learning so much and I’m only half way through the program
It doesn’t seem like much now that I have it all typed up, but I’m proud of what I’ve done so far and what I’m still working on. If you’re curious about what next, here’s my to-do list:
- Get title banner designed
- Study up on SEO
- Complete my blog new pages
